South African 'corpse' wakes up,
scares off morgue staff
Monday, July 25, 2011
Bodies lie in the morgue of a hospital. A 50-year-old South African man thought to be dead woke up in a chilly morgue and shouted to be let out, scaring off two attendants who thought he was a ghost, the local media reported.
A 50-year-old South African man thought to be dead woke up in a chilly morgue on Sunday and shouted to be let out, scaring off two attendants who thought he was a ghost, local media reported.
"His family thought he had died," health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo told the Sapa news agency.
"The family called a private undertaker who took what they thought was a dead body to the morgue, but the man woke up inside the morgue on Sunday at 5:00 pm and screamed, demanding to be taken out of the cold place."
This caused two mortuary attendants on duty to flee the building in the small town of Libode in the rural Eastern Cape as they thought it was a ghost.
After calling for help and returning to find the man alive, an ambulance was sent to fetch the man who had "been exposed to extreme cold for nearly 24 hours" said Kupelo.
He said the public should not assume that a sick person has died and contact a mortuary, the report said.
"Doctors, emergency workers and the police are the only people who have a right to examine the patients and determine if they are dead or not."

Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, 49, was mistakenly declared deceased by doctors, the Daily Mail reported Friday. But she later woke up - in a coffin surrounded by sobbing relatives. She started screaming after realizing she was about to be buried alive.
Mukhametzyanov, a resident of Kazan, was rushed back to the hospital where she was declared dead - this time for real.

Her husband, Fagili Mukhametzyanov, was distraught. "Her eyes fluttered and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital but she only lived for another 12 minutes."
He told The Sun that he would sue the hospital.
"I am very angry and want answers. She wasn't dead when they said she was and they could have saved her."
A spokesman at the hospital, also in Kazan, said officials were investigating.

There's nothing like a good, old-fashioned spooker. Movies like "Rosemary's Baby," "The Exorcist," "The Others and even "The Legend of Hell House" have sent tingles up and down countless spines. Truth is, we all love to be scared as long it's in a movie theatre of in the comfort of our comfy TV rooms. But what about when the weirdness manifests in your own attic, basement or your entire home? Well, then it's a different story.
But the paranormal isn't just about ghosts. There are many things that go bump in the night. Right now, after living in this house for nearly 5 years, I'm suddenly experiencing a some serious strangeness. In the past two weeks, the kitchen taps have mysteriously turned on several times.
At first, I thought I was just being forgetful and have taken special notice of turning off the taps but they're still doing it. It happens during the day as well as during the night. Do I have any explanation? Not a clue! Funny thing is, it doesn't seem very frightening and I'm not losing any sleep over it but I have to admit it is peculiar.
Now, let's have a look at 21 other glimpses into the preternatural. They will give you a better idea of what it is really about.
Mysteries of Doppelgangers!
The term is derived from two German words: “doppel” and “ganger,” which mean “double” and “walker” respectively.
Residual Hauntings
Many ghost sightings are very similar. In fact, some witnesses report seeing the exact same ghost in the exact same place at different times. This is referred to as a “residual haunting,” which is like a past event being played back over and over again

Ghost child recorded in cemetery?
In 2008, 17-year-old Jessie Grayhouse filmed something very strange at a cemetery in Georgia. He'd been filming the tombstones when he noticed a child running along in the distance, he turned the camera towards him only for the child to mysteriously jump up in to a tree in a very peculiar manner. If you don't believe in ghosts, the video that Fox 8 News obtained may change your mind forever! The footage was shot in a cemetery and it may be the most remarkable evidence of the afterlife ever recorded. Via Fox 8 News
