The thing about nostalgia is the farther back we look, the better it all seems to be. As Gladys Knight says in the intro to her version of "The Way We Were," the winters were warmer, the grass was greener, the sky was bluer and the future was bright.
In the decades following World War II, it did seem anything was possible and Western culture embraced that notion one hundred percent. That optimism was best demonstrated in the automobiles produced in North America from the late 1940s through to the late 1970s. So climb in and let's take a little trip down Memory Lane.
